| AFI Award Recipient Jane Fonda |
Congratulations to Oscar winner Jane Fonda on her recent selection to be next year's AFI Life Achievement Award winner. It's hard to figure out if it's due to her politics, her lack of a film career in the 1990's, or just that honorary awards bodies don't remember women enough, but this is oddly Fonda's first leg in the Cinematic Life Achievement Circle, despite a long-running career that has gotten her seven Academy Award nominations. Fonda will pick up the trophy at next year's ceremony and will be the second child of a former honoree to receive the award (Kirk and Michael Douglas both have won).
